Itinerary

DAY 1: LOCAL LIFE IN MEKONG DELTA: EXPLORE BIRD SANCTUARY AND TRADITIONAL HANDICRAFT VILLAGE

  • Pick-up

07:00 AM: Start from your hotel to West bus station to take a ticket and go to Ngã Bảy, Hậu Giang. The bus begins at 8:00 am.

  • Having lunch at a local house:

12:00 PM: Arrive at Ngã Bảy Bus Station. I will pick you up and leave your luggage at the local house. You can take a break and have lunch with Vietnamese cuisine.

  • Experience traditional handicraft village

01:30 PM: Take a boat or ride a motorbike to see the rural life in the village: go through the small street to see local people make bamboo baskets in the village.

  • Cajeput Forest & Bird Sanctuary

3:00 PM: Take a boat inside the forest to see birds and trees. Climb up to Bird Tower to see an overview of the forest. Seeing the duck farms (depending on the rice harvesting), and rice fields near to the forest.

4:15 PM: Walking under the shadow of the trees around the forest.

  • Vietnamese Cooking Class

05:15 PM Go back to my homestay for cooking class with traditional fork cake “Bánh Xèo” in traditional way. You will learn how to scrape the old coconut to produce coconut milk, how to grand the rice become the rice flour, try to pour pancake by your own and have all recipe for making pancake.

DAY 2: AN AUTHENTIC FLOATING MARKET AND UNLOCK THE COUNTRYSIDE IN SON ISLET

  • Cai Rang floating market – a must-have floating market

05:30 AM: Reach the harbor and take a sampan boat to explore Cai Rang floating market – a must-have floating market in Can Tho and watch the sunrise on the river (sometimes). Enjoy “The Queen Fruit: PINEAPPLE” right on the boat near to the floating market. Have breakfast at the boat with “Shaking Rice Noodle Soup: Hủ tiếu” and “Vietnamese Càfe”.

  • Rice noodle home factory

07:00 AM: Experience the rice noodles by yourself at the rice noodle factory with impressively natural colorful rice noodles.

  • Small canals in the village 

07:30 AM: Enjoy the cool, green, peaceful atmosphere in the small canals and learn about the local life in the river village.

  • The most beautiful ancient house in Can Tho City

08:30 AM: Visit An ancient house in Can Tho: Bình Thủy Ancient house or “Phủ thờ họ Dương” with the beauty of a mix of Eastern and Western architecture and famous for the film “The Lover” based on the real love story of a French girl and Vietnamese man.

 

  • Experience the countryside in Sơn Islet

09:30 AM: Take a car/taxi to Son Islet. Discover the local life in an isolated small island in the middle of Hậu River (Lower River).

  • Surprising Floating fish farm

10:30 AM: One of the best ways to explore a part of real life on the Mekong River is taking a boat overviewing the floating fish farm village on Hau River. The local people are living and working as fishermen right in their floating houses. You will stop at a floating fish farm and listen to the Story of the fish in the Mekong River. Experience fish massage with gorgeous and colorful freshwater fish. Wonder about the giant fish on the farm that was called: “Monster Fish” and other interesting things are waiting for you to discover.

  • The Flying Fish Performance

11:15 AM: Keep moving to another local house for watching the Flying Fish Performance. The snake head fish were trained to fly high, beautifully, and simultaneously to grab the bait like dancing on the water.

  • Son Islet fruit garden

11:45 AM: Walk around the fruit gardens to see many kinds of tropical fruits (pomelos, rambutans, guavas, rose apples… depending on the season). Experience climbing on the trees (sometimes) to pick the fruits and enjoy the fresh fruits right in the gardens. Rowing the boat around the small canals in the garden.

  • Vietnamese Home-cooking Cuisine 

12:15 PM: Visit one more local house for enjoy the Vietnamese typical local meals in the Southern traditional house and garden. Relaxing on the hammocks next to the trees.

  • Back to the mainland

01:30 PM: Take the boat trip from Son Islet to the mainland.

  • Back to the hotel or place you want to go next

02:00 PM: I will book a bus ticket for you to back to Sài Gòn after finishing the tour. Or wherever you want to go, we will support booking a private car or public bus for you.
